Veteran NBA player Vince Carter became the first player in league history to play games in four different decades when he stepped on the court against the Indiana Pacers on January 4, 2020. As of that date, the 42-year-old had played in 29 games for the Atlanta Hawks and averaged 5.2 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist per game. This season marks Carter's NBA-record 22nd in the league. Four players, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Willis, Robert Parish, and Kevin Garnett, played in 21 seasons. Further emphasizing Carter's longevity is the fact that three dozen players who have appeared in a game this season were born after Carter played his first game in the NBA. Selected by the Golden State Warriors fifth overall in the 1998 NBA Draft and subsequently traded to the Toronto Raptors, Carter won Rookie of the Year in the 1998-99 season and has since played in eight All-Star Games. The two-time All-NBA player has averaged 16.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists through 1,510 career regular season games.
