In 2015, the synagogue partnered with the iCare Foundation for Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Yom HaShoah, marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of thousands of people from concentration camps across Europe. Attended by members of the Synagogue and the local community, the event focused on Jewish identity among the younger generation. The hugely successful event had a vital message amid a backdrop of a dwindling number of Holocaust survivors. Their passing leaves future generations in danger of forgetting the tragedies the Jewish people have endured. With fewer survivors and more "deniers” in existence, the gathered Holocaust survivors provided an important eyewitness account of one of the most traumatic events in human history. One attendee described the event as being valuable for revealing just how much she took for granted in her daily life. A survivor in attendance had a core message to share with the audience, that people should not look at her with sorrow or pity, but rather “realize how beautiful life is” and that tragedy shouldn't prevent you from enjoying life.
